Lobby Space

The Hilton Garden Conference Center is located on the northeast side of Columbia, right off of interstate 63 and Vandiver Drive exit (next door to the Bass Pro Shop).

The Hilton Garden Conference Center is a beautiful space with great accommodations for us to have worship and ministry for the whole family.

Here are a few things that stand out about this space: it’s beautiful inside and out, very clean, great parking, spacious & “classy” restrooms, large lobby for connecting, easy access off the interstate, and much more!

Key Things Taking Place Right Now:
As I write this on October 19th,  we have nearly 60 people connected to the vision of DPC and part of the Launch Team.

Launch Team Gatherings consists of strategy meetings & fellowship with our church family in various settings. This strategy enables us to connect, build our team, and get ready to launch “healthy” right off the start.

You can get connected in several ways right now!
1. If you live near Columbia, and desire to join our Launch Team, contact us!
pastorjoshdpc@yahoo.com   www.destinypointe.com    FB: Destiny Pointe Church

2. We need our friends and family to pray for DPC daily.

3. We need Servant Volunteers. We are developing specific teams to serve our community that will experience DPC for the first time on Launch Day.

4. Sow financially into DPC…we are not a money hungry church nor manipulative in the money area. We are missional and realize it takes finances to accomplish certain tasks. God has principles in His Word on tithing, giving, sowing. It’s His idea not ours 🙂
God desires Kingdom minded people who will sow financially into ministries that are reaching people. Your seed will be more than appreciated and will enable us to reach the spiritual lost and hurting in our city.

We are in the ARC Churches Network which has given us approval to plant under their umbrella and are willing to match up to $30,000.00 that we raise. We are in the process of raising this budget. Please pray about what God may have you sow into DPC.

Connect here if you desire to sow financially. Again we thank you.

Exciting News for DPC

arcToday is a very special day for Destiny Pointe Church. We are in Birmingham, Alabama at the headquarters of ARC (Association of Related Churches) and have been fully approved to be in the ARC Network. ARC is one of the leading church planting associations with hundreds of churches across the United States. Receiving our approval consisted of many assessments, referrals, and interviews with the ARC Staff for nearly the past year. With their sanction, we have the backing, encouragement, and the coaching to make a greater impact in our city of Columbia, Missouri.

Here are a few key words that stand out to us being connected with ARC: approval, encouragement, support, endorsement, coaching, mentoring, accountability

Destiny Pointe Church family; take a couple of minutes and checkout a few of these links. These are just a few of the leading ARC Churches in America that are impacting their cities with the message of Jesus Christ.

DPC is a non-denominational church that has five ministry overseers. ARC is another covering that will come along side to bring insight and strength. To receive their endorsement is a great honor and privilege. There are many heroes and spiritual generals connected to ARC and we are excited join them.

We are ready to make Jesus famous in our community, reach the spiritually lost, and bring hope to those seeking fulfillment only found in our Savior.

Let’s set our hearts towards the mission of God like never before. Pray, get involved, sow, and get ready to step into a fresh season of purpose! It’s going to be AMAZING!

Much Love,

Pastor Josh & Jennifer Palmer

Reminder: Our COOKOUT is taking place Sunday, October 20th @ 12:30 pm at COSMO Park. Don’t miss this opportunity to plug in, connect, fellowship, and get into the flow of life at DPC. It’s going to be a great day of fun, food, and fellowship. We want you to invite everyone you know to join us and we will make history once again!

Disney’s 7 Guest Service Guidelines

Walt-Disney-World-FloridaMany of our friends and family members are fully aware that Jennifer and I are “crazy” about taking our kids to Disney World! We seriously love seeing our kids light up as they meet the characters. We’ve laughed, literally cried, and start planning for our trip for the next summer while we are driving home from the current trip.

I love the atmosphere in Disney because they make you feel like a billion dollars.disneyus
Their theme throughout the park about “Dreaming” and the way they make you feel is over the top incredible. Jennifer and I share with one another quite often about how we desire to create a culture “where your God Dream will come true” at Destiny Pointe Church.

Also we desire to be the friendliest and most loving place in all of Columbia. It will start with making people feel like they matter because they actually do! Every person no matter where they came from, what color they are, or what side of the tracks they were raised. We will help create an atmosphere of love and a place where people see and feel the heart of Jesus.

Back to the Disney thing; here are the 7 Guest Service Guidelines Disney gives ALL of their employees. Let’s create a place where people can dream and feel important!

dwarfs

1. Be Happy…make eye contact and smile!
2. Be like Sneezy…welcome every guest. “Spread” the spirit of hospitality!
3. Don’t be Bashful…seek out guest contact!
4. Be like Doc…provide immediate service recovery!
5. Don’t be Grumpy…always display appropriate body language at all times!
6. Be like Sleepy…create dreams and preserve the magical guest experience!
7. Don’t be Dopey…thank each and every guest!

Personality Type “C”

HAPPY-PEOPLE-iStockAs I shared in the first three blogs, I’ve recently taken a Personality Profile test for ARC (Association of Related Churches), which is a step in the process of planting our church in Columbia, Missouri. I’ve come across some interesting things about the four personality types and the effectiveness and weaknesses of each one. As a church planter, placing volunteers on ministry teams is a huge goal and challenge! Placing the right person in the right area can cause that particular area/team to excel. However placing the wrong personality type in an area of ministry not fit for them can be a detriment to the team, people being served, and the overall ministry.

This is Blog #4  about the four personality types and the pros & cons of each. Also, we will share the areas in each personality category that typically needs growth, correction, and help. Realize that each personality type possesses both great strengths and weaknesses. Our personality type can be very beneficial and yet offensive/drag if not tempered overall by the Spirit of God.

This is from the Personality Profile I recently have taken. These are not my thoughts or opinions. I have highlighted key words that stood out to me though.

Personality Type “C” – Compliant, Competent, Task oriented, Goal oriented, Introverted

“C”s are complicated and analytical. Careful and logical lines of thinking drive them forward, and accuracy is a top priority. They hold high standards and valued systematic approaches to problem solving. Though they thrive when given opportunities to find solutions, they tend to ignore the feelings of others and can often be critical and downright crabby.  Verbalizing feelings is difficult for them, but when they are not bogged down in details and have clear-cut boundaries, they can be big assets to the team by providing calculated “reality checks”. The “C”s biggest fear is criticism, and their need for perfectionism is often a weakness, as is their tendency to give in when in the midst of an argument. However, they are thorough in all activities and can bring a conscientious, even-tempered element to the team that will provide solid grounding. They value being correct the most.

AREAS TO GROW, IMPROVE, & CORRECT

A. Concentrate on doing the right things—not just doing things right
B. Be less critical of other’s ideas and methods
C. Respond more quickly to accomplish others’ goals
D. Strive to build relationships with other people and family members
E. Be more decisive
F. Focus less on facts and more on people

Personality Type “S”

HAPPY-PEOPLE-iStockAs I shared in the first two blogs, I’ve recently taken a Personality Profile test for ARC (Association of Related Churches), which is a step in the process of planting our church in Columbia, Missouri. I’ve come across some interesting things about the four personality types and the effectiveness and weaknesses of each one. As a church planter, placing volunteers on ministry teams is a huge goal and challenge! Placing the right person in the right area can cause that particular area/team to excel. This is Blog #3  about the four personality types and the pros & cons of each.

Personality Type “S” – Steady, Sure, Analytical, People Oriented, Introverted

“S”s are steady and more reserved. Because they are stable and predictable, they do not like change, and they thrive in secure, non-threatening environments. They are often friendly and understanding as well as good listeners and loyal workers and who are happy doing the same job consistently. With an incredible ability to forgive, reliable and dependable “S”s tend to make the best friends. Their greatest fear, however, is loss of security, and their possible weaknesses, naturally include not only resistance to change, but also difficulty adjusting to it. They can also be too sensitive to criticism and unable to establish priorities. In order to avoid being taken advantage of, “S”s need to be stronger an learn how to say “no”. They also, like to avoid the limelight, but when given an opportunity to genuinely help others, they will gladly rise to the occasion.  They feel most valued when they have truly helped someone.

AREAS TO GROW, IMPROVE, & CORRECT

A. Consider how change is healthy. Try to change more willingly
B. Be more direct in your interactions
C. Focus on overall goals of your family or group rather than specific procedures
D. Deal with confrontation constructively
E. Develop more flexibility
F. Try to show more initiative

Personality Type “I”

HAPPY-PEOPLE-iStockAs I shared in the first blog, I’ve recently taken a Personality Profile test for ARC (Association of Related Churches), which is a step in the process of planting our church in Columbia, Missouri. I’ve come across some interesting things about the four personality types and the effectiveness and weaknesses of each one. As a church planter, placing volunteers on ministry teams is a huge goal and challenge! Placing the right person in the right area can cause that particular area/team to excel. This is Blog #2  about the four personality types and the pros & cons of each. Also, we will share the areas in each personality category that typically needs growth, correction, and help. This is from the Personality Profile I recently have taken. These are not my thoughts or opinions. I have highlighted key words that stood out to me though.

Personality Type “I” – Influential, Interested in people, Witty, Easygoing, Outgoing, People oriented

“I”s are inspiring and impressive. Enthusiastic, optimistic, impulsive, and emotional– they tend to be creative problem solvers and excellent encouragers. They often have a large number of friends, but they can become more concerned with approval and popularity than with getting results. An “I’”s greatest fear is rejection, but they thrive when it comes to motivating others. Their positive sense of humor helps them negotiate conflicts. Though they can be inattentive to details and poor listeners, they can be great peacemakers and effective teammates when they control their feelings and minimize their urge to entertain and be the center of attention. They value lot of human touch and connection.

AREAS TO GROW, IMPROVE, & CORRECT

A. Weigh the pros and cons before making a decision; be less impulsive
B. Remember to help with tasks more
C. Exercise control over your actions, words, and emotions
D. Focus more on details and facts
E. Remember to slow down your pace for other people
F. Talk less; listen more

Personality Type “D”

HAPPY-PEOPLE-iStockI’ve recently taken a Personality Profile test for ARC (Association of Related Churches), which is a step in the process of planting our church in Columbia, Missouri.

I will be writing four blogs about the four personality types and the pros & cons of each.

Personality Type “D” – Dominant, Direct, Task Oriented, Decisive, Outspoken
“D”s are direct and decisive; they are risk takers and problem solvers. They are more concerned with completing tasks and winning than they are with gaining approval from people. Though the internal drive tends to make them insensitive to those around them, “D”s are not afraid to challenge the status quo, and they thrive when it comes to developing new things. They need discipline to excel, and they respond to direct confrontation. The greatest fear of a “D” is to be taken advantage of, and even despite their possible weaknesses—which include an aversion to routine, a tendency to overstep authority, and argumentative nature, and a habit of taking on too much—they place a high value on time and use their innovative thinking to accomplish difficult tasks and conquer challenges.

AREAS TO GROW, IMPROVE, & CORRECT

A. Strive to listen to other people more attentively
B. Try to be less controlling and domineering
C. Develop a greater appreciation for the opinions, feelings, and desires of others
D. Put more energy into personal relationships
E. Show your support for the other team members
F. Make sure you stay in your lane and don’t overstep
G. Be sure to not over-talk others or dominate the conversation
H. Be careful that you don’t come across as a rude & brash person
I. Be sure to not get involved in business and conversations that don’t pertain to you
J. Don’t come across offensive just because you are “right” in a situation

DPC Core Pillars 9-12

pillarsnews.jpgWe believe in “The Spirit and the Gifts”- At Destiny Pointe Church we believe in people not only knowing and understanding their God given gifts, but exercising them for the common good of the body of Christ. The gifts can be found in Romans 12, I Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4, and I Peter 4.

We believe in “Exciting Spirituality”- At Destiny Pointe Church we believe in expressing our praise and worship to God. We will be undignified and radical in our expression to honor our God who became undignified and radical to save us!

We believe in “Honor” – At Destiny Pointe Church we will freely give honor to those over us, beside us, and under us because of the potential and Godly DNA that each individual possesses. We view every person through the eyes of Christ.

We believe in “Excellence” – At Destiny Pointe Church we believe in putting our best into everything we do; whether it’s our job, ministry, event, or service to the Body of Christ or our community
